Who is this Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety for Catering for?

This food hygiene and safety level 2 is for those working within the catering industry or handle food regularly. Ideal for those just starting out in their catering career, whether that is as a team member, kitchen porter or any other junior role.

Other professions can include but are not limited to: restaurants, bars, fast food outlets, preparing meals in schools, hospitals or any other public service environments.

For those working as a Manager or Supervisor or even those leading a team handling food, we encourage you to complete our Level 3 Food Safety and Hygiene for Supervisors.


Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety for Catering Certificate

Our entire library of training courses are accredited by the CPD Certification Service as adhering to the universally recognised Continuing Professional Development (CPD) guidelines.

This training course and it's content has also been assured by RoSPA, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.

Upon passing the online assessment you will have the options to both print and download your Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety Certificate in PDF format. In addition to this an automated email will also be sent to your chosen email address containing a link to your certificate ensuring you always have access to a copy.

Furthermore, a QR code is displayed on each certificate which when scanned by a smartphone links to our certification database. This allows employers, auditors and local authority inspectors, for example, to establish a certificates validity instantly and at any time.

This Certificate does not have an Expiry Date. However, It is recommended that this training should be refreshed every 3 years in keeping with industry best practice guidelines. A Recommended Renewal Date will be printed on this certificate.

Course Aim

This level 2 food hygiene & safety for catering online aims to give the learner the ability to identify the importance of following food safety law and legislation, aswell as to competently know how to prevent food hygiene hazards.

Training Course Content

This course is made up of the following modules:

  • Module 1 - Individual Responsibility for Food Safety

    We look at food safety management procedures and their importance when it comes to storing food that’s safe to eat.

  • Module 2 - The Importance of Personal Hygiene

    Good personal hygiene is critical in catering – and we focus on how important it is to maintain such high standards in order to work safely when handling and storing food in the workplace.

  • Module 3 - How to Keep the Working Area Clean and Hygienic

    Covering the importance of maintaining a hygienic work environment, this section of the course looks at cleaning safely and effectively when handling and working with food.

  • Module 4 - How to Receive and Store Food Safely

    Focusing on the knowledge you’ll need to work safely with foods – both raw and uncooked – during the course, you’ll look at every stage of the food preparation process.

  • Module 5 - Preparing, Cooking and Handling Food Safely

    It’s vital that food safety comes top of your list when you work in catering; this section of the course will look at the importance of working safely with ingredients during food prep, cooking and handling.


Assessment

On completion of the course lessons and training material an online assessment will automatically unlock. The assessment will contain 30 multiple-choice questions and a mark of 75% or above will be required to pass.

The assessment will be marked instantly and so you will know straight away if you have passed or not. If you don't pass first time there's no need to worry. Unlimited resits at absolutely no additional charge are available so you can retake the assessment again as many times as you need to.
