This course will help managers to understand what disciplinary and grievance are, and how each case should be dealt with fairly, consistently and within a reasonable timeframe. It also looks at how the ACAS statutory code of practice on disciplinary and grievance can be used as a practical guide to aid employers and employees.

Course Aim

The aim of this Disciplinary and Grievance course is to provide you with the knowledge of what disciplinary and grievance issues are, and the differences between them. It looks at how to handle disciplinary cases which can be considered as relatively minor, to issues that can be considered as serious such as gross misconduct. Similarly, it concentrates on grievance issues, giving knowledge on how to handle complaints or concerns from employees.

This course aims to give learners the understanding and ability to differentiate between disciplinary and grievance and how both of these can relate to issues within the workplace. It looks at the fundamental principles that need to be followed whenever a disciplinary or grievance issue has been brought to the attention of management within the workplace.

Training Course Content

This course is made up of the following modules:

  • Introduction to Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures

    This section will cover what are disciplinary and grievance procedures. The guiding principles of disciplinary and grievance as well as being aware of underpinning legislation.

  • Module 1 - Handling Disciplinary Issues

    This section will cover establishing the facts and informing employees—the disciplinary hearing proses and taking action.

  • Module 2 - Managing Grievance Issues

    This section will cover investigating grievances, resolving grievances amicably and your employees’ rights


Assessment

On completion of the course lessons and training material an online assessment will automatically unlock. The assessment will contain 15 multiple-choice questions and a mark of 75% or above will be required to pass.

The assessment will be marked instantly and so you will know straight away if you have passed or not. If you don't pass first time there's no need to worry. Unlimited resits at absolutely no additional charge are available so you can retake the assessment again as many times as you need to.
