Who is this Online Health and Safety Level 3 Training for?

In addition to this an automated email will also be sent to your chosen email address containing a link to your certificate ensuring you always have access to a copy.

Furthermore, a QR code is displayed on each certificate which when scanned by a smartphone links to our certification database. This allows employers, auditors and local authority inspectors, for example, to establish a certificates validity instantly and at any time.

Course Aim

The aim of the online course is to part the learner with a clear understanding of the role the individual will need to undertake and an organisation's legal responsibilities in regards to workplace safety, focusing on what will be required of them when taking a senior level role. The need to become familliar of the expected procedures and the principles of risk assessing and developing their own competent processes to help protect the employee workforce.

  • Explain the difference between primary and secondary health and safety legislation.
  • Recognise and identify hazards and risks
  • Identify common workplace accidents and link these to human, occupational and environmental factors

  • Explain ‘health and safety culture’ and identify the characteristics of a positive one
  • Describe the role of supervisors and managers in promoting good standards of health and safety

Training Course Content

This course is made up of the following modules:

  • Module 1 - Introduction to online Health and Safety Level 3 training

    This section introduces the learner to the course. It looks at the costs of poor standards of workplace health and safety, common health and safety terms, categories of risk, managing health and safety and workplace hazards.

  • Module 2 - Health and Safety Legislation

    This module explores the differences between primary and secondary health and safety legislation, employer and employee duties, the legal status and practical application of Approved Codes of Practice, guidance and other publications, the powers of enforcement officers and the enforcement actions and penalties for breaches of health and safety law.

  • Module 3 - Accidents in the workplace

    This module covers common workplace accidents and the link to human, occupational and environmental factors, the legal and organisational requirements with respect to reporting and recording accidents and near misses, how to carry out an incident investigation and how to prevent accidents for a range of common workplace incidents.

  • Module 4 - Ill health in the workplace

    This module covers common work-related ill health conditions and their causes, differences between acute and chronic health effects, legal and organisational duty to report incidents of work-related ill health, hazards that cause ill health, and suitable control measures, the role of health surveillance in controlling work-related ill health and the requirements for welfare and first-aid provision in the workplace.

  • Module 5 - Organisation and Management

    This module concentrates on ‘health and safety culture’ and how to identify a positive one, the requirements for providing health and safety information to employees, the need for employee representation and consultation on health and safety and the role of effective communication, the process of risk assessments and when they should be reviewed, situations where specific risk assessments are required, competencies required of risk assessors, processes of monitoring and auditing workplace health and safety and the requirements for record keeping health and safety records.

  • Module 6 - The role of supervisors

    This module covers the role of supervisors and managers in promoting good standards of health and safety, the role of PPE in controlling hazards, procedures for monitoring the effectiveness of control measures, methods for motivating staff to work safely, staff training needs and appropriate delivery of training, methods for dealing with conflict and disputes and the actions required in emergency situations.


Assessment

On completion of the course lessons and training material an online assessment will automatically unlock. The assessment will contain 40 multiple-choice questions and a mark of 82% or above will be required to pass.

The assessment will be marked instantly and so you will know straight away if you have passed or not.
