This online Whistleblowing Training course covers the importance of whistleblowing within a company or business, as doing so can help to save profits or protect public health. It looks at when and why employees should report illegal activities within the workplace and how to do it in a way which is appropriate for their job security.

This course looks at the different legislation that is in place to protect employees from mistreatment if they whistleblow, such legislation includes The Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998 (PIDA) and Employment Rights Act 1996. It looks at why a whistleblowing policy should be implemented within the workplace and the importance this policy has when protecting workers rights.

Undertaking this course will help employers and employees to better understand the benefits of whistleblowing and remove stigmas attached to it. This course looks at why maintaining a concern for public health should be the highest priority to any member of staff or employer.

The aim of this course is to provide knowledge on whistleblowing, how to whistleblow correctly and the laws and legislation that are in place to help protect whistleblowers.

Training Course Content

This course is made up of the following modules:

  • An Introduction to Whistleblowing

    This section introduces the learner to the course and what whistleblowing is and why it is important. It also gives a case study example of whistleblowing within the workplace.

  • Module 1 - Benefits of Whistleblowing

    This section of the course concentrates on the benefits whistleblowing. It explains why addressing wrongdoings and misconduct is the right thing to do, as it is unethical not to report another member of staff who commits a crime or malpractice.

  • Module 2 - Whistleblowing and the Law

    This section of the course covers what legislation is in place to help protect workers when they make a qualifying disclosure. It also looks at what qualifying and protected disclosures mean.

  • Module 3 - Protected Disclosures and Codes of Practice

    In this final section, you will cover tips on how to make a protected disclosure and the different measures to avoid or undertake when making a protected disclosure. It also looks at the codes of practice an employer can take to ensure that they treat their staff fairly and deal with a disclosure professionally.


Assessment

On completion of the course lessons and training material an online assessment will automatically unlock. The assessment will contain 15 multiple-choice questions and a mark of 75% or above will be required to pass.

The assessment will be marked instantly and so you will know straight away if you have passed or not. If you don't pass first time there's no need to worry. Unlimited resits at absolutely no additional charge are available so you can retake the assessment again as many times as you need to.
