This Dust Awareness Training Course provides an overview of the health risks associated with occupational dust exposure. Learners will gain the knowledge to identify dust hazards, implement effective control measures, and comply with relevant health and safety regulations. The course focuses on the importance of proactive dust management to help protect people's health.
Dust in the workplace – an unobvious and invisible killer. The health hazards associated with occupational dust exposure can lead to fatal and life-debilitating respiratory conditions including cancer, lung disease, occupational asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Even the less severe health consequences of dust exposure can leave workers with headaches, conjunctivitis and skin conditions. This issue is not exclusive to one industry; occupational dust can be a problem in a multitude of working environments.
Although not all dust is 'invisible', most types of dust are very difficult to detect without special equipment. This is because dust particles are usually very small and often odourless. However, whether its presence is due to the materials used or the work activities carried out, the health impacts of occupational dust are completely avoidable. By properly identifying occupational dusts, assessing the risk they pose and implementing adequate control measures, employees can be protected from occupational dust hazards.
This course is designed for individuals who work in environments where dust exposure is a health and safety risk. It is ideal for those looking to understand the hazards of dust inhalation and the control measures required to minimise risks.
Employees involved in tasks such as cutting, drilling, or sanding—where dust inhalation is a concern—will benefit from this training by learning about safety practices, proper ventilation.
